Rate limits

Request limits and the headers that report them.

Each API key may make 100 requests per minute. The limit is per key, so a busy integration that polls from one server is not affected by other keys or other clients on the same network.

Every response to a request made with a key reports the budget:

  • X-RateLimit-Limit — requests allowed per window
  • X-RateLimit-Remaining — requests left in the current window
  • X-RateLimit-Reset — Unix time when the window resets

Once the limit is exceeded, requests get 429 immediately until the window resets. A 429 also carries a Retry-After header and an error.details.retry_after field in the body, both in seconds.

day_detail and history are cached server-side per satellite, station, and day, so repeating the same request is cheap for Vega but still counts against your limit. Cache on your side too.
